Wynwood II

Miami, FL

December 7, 2015

Wynwood is magic. It bills itself as “one of the largest and most prominent creative communities in the United States.” Even though it’s a heavily gentrified area, it’s not to the point that it feels totally corporate and culturally deprived (like some parts of gentrified Brooklyn)….  Yet. All the signs point to that happening. Soon. I’ve lived though gentrification in two different cities. I can tell.

But for now, it’s my “happy place” in Miami. Even with the sky looking like impending doom (see any pic in this gallery), I still headed over with the plan to rent a Chase bike (corporate can be good, sometimes) and ride around the neighborhood to see as much of it as possible. The sky held for the first two hours I was there, but the machine to pay for/unlock the bikes wasn’t working. Womp.

The good news, is I saw more than a hundred murals before the sky unleashed and I had to run for cover. This is Part II of my Wynwood Galleries.
