RA is walking thru… is that a green house? I don’t know the proper words for farm places. But wherever he is, he’s with his new boo and she’s talking about how her family sacrificed for her and they are doing the same for her brother. RA can relate. His dad sacrificed for him. He sacrifices for Blue.
She asks about Darla. RA says they are working it out. Ooh, he’s nervous. He has a question. Chile, these interested men will absolutely act interested. The other girl had to work up just to have the sex indoors. This one got him blushing and asking, “What are we?” They act right when they want to.
Charli is meeting with a lawyer who is explaining the concept of imminent domain. In short, if the Bodelones don’t sell their land so the government can build a jail, the government can take it, and that’s that. Charli ain’t trying to hear that.
Her Sexy White Boy calls to invite her to dinner and she curses him out for good reason. She’s about to hang up when he tells her that the family knows that she knows about the jail and his mother wants to discuss alternatives. Charli’s ready to cuss his mama too when he pleads to hear his mother out.
Nova is meeting with some white lady I don’t recognize. Debroah? Is this the agent? [Yes.] Somebody wants to publish the chapter she’s been writing about her father’s depression. Nova is hesitant. She says she needs more time to get the story right.
Vy is baking when the supermarket guy pops up. He’s still interested in doing the business. Thank you, Jesus. He gives her a contract to read over. He has one request: he did his research on lupus and he insists that when she is having a bad day that she will tell him upfront. Vy is trying not to cry. I gave up. I am in tears. Her dream is no longer deferred.
Darla meets with RA at the diner. She had her lawyer draw up paperwork. She is asking for 70/30 split for custody of Blue. I knew she was going to do this! I knew it!!!! I KNEW IT!!! She suggests they alternate holidays. RA asks what happened to 50/50? Darla says Blue needs a stable environment, someone who isn’t working two jobs. Bihh!!!!!!!!
I told ya’ll I hated Darla. I told y’all. And y’all were like, “nooooo, give Darla a chance!”
She says she can provide a routine since she has a good job and stable environment. She’s over RA always having the final say.
Um. Ma’am? He’s been having the final say because he and his family have been raising the child you abandoned. WTF, Sis? RA goes full Charli and tells Darla that he will not have it. So, I guess it’s a custody battle them then. You know, Charli gonna financially back this on GP.
Nova and Remy show up to some cookout hand in hand. Oh, Baby, what are you doing? I thought you said you were leaving him alone? What is going on?? That lil moment in the kitchen led to y’all just saying, “f—it all”?
Mica and his friends have everything they need for their act of rebellion. Mica is nervous, but goes along with it. He looks how I feel when I know something bad is about to happen. Please, OWN, don’t let nothing happen to this child. Or any of these children.
Vy and Hollywood are venue shopping for their wedding. He taking about arriving in a gondola, and a Second Line, and an Italian man playing the flute. He says all Vy gotta do is stay healthy and show up. Lawd, I love this man.
Now Vy and Hollywood are tasting cake. I ain’t never seen a man so happy to be getting married. Vy says she owes him an apology for teasing him about wanting to invest in a barbershop. She says she should have asked him what his dream were. Hollywood? *swoon* I love this big, black man. He says to Vy, “taking care of you is my dream.”
Gents, pay attention. That nasty thing that you been wanting to do that your woman ain’t said “yes” to, just “I’ll think about it…”? This is how you get that thing done. You might even be able to get it on video. Just saying….
Back to the show: Vy says she wants him to think about himself too. She said folks like them don’t know what to do when getting by ain’t the reality anymore. She asks him what his dream is. He wants his own construction company, or maybe a sports lounge. Hollywood is concerned that if he gets busy, Vy won’t take care of herself the way she is supposed to. She promises she will.
Charli goes to meet with the sexy white dude and his mom, who is surprised she agreed to meet with them. Mom is trying to be flattering, but Charli cuts to the chase with a curt, “why am I here?” Mom says that she wants to steal the business back from her brother. She loves him, but she loves the family land more. She ain’t with the jail.
Mother gets a call and leaves Chalri and Sexy WB alone at the table. Charlie sons TF out of him. LOL. He’s like, “I know what you must think of me.”
Charli: “I don’t think of you at all.”
He apologizes for not telling her about his Uncle's plans to sell the land and build a jail, but he says he did not lie about how he feels about her.
Mother is back. She says she and Charli can combine votes to override Sam’s jail plan. And she’s working on getting more. Charli says that she is “wary” of anyone who is willing to betray their blood. “We don’t do that,” she says. She means “we” like Bodelones? Or “we” like The Blacks?
Mother says if they don’t partner, the best Charli can do is hold up things in the courts. She passes her a file on her nephew. She’s setting Charli up to poach shares.
Remy and Nova are hanging out in someone’s kitchen. Wait. Are they rolling a J? Seriously, Remy? Wait, Remy takes a pull. He does inhale. Sir, who are you? Nova looks intrigued.
Girl. I get it. I do. But this ain’t no parts of correct behavior.
Now they are making out. Wait. Is Rey gonna give up the dique?
No, now they just holding each other. #womp
`Wait. They should not be having the sex because: Sister/ ex Charli. But solely for scandalous entertainment purposes, I wouldn’t have been mad at it.
RA is in Charli’s living room, telling his sisters about Darla’s shenanigans. Charli is concerned that RA is not the bio-dad and what that will mean for the case, and that he is an ex-con. He laments that he missed so much of Blue’s life when he was in prison for four years.
RA is also worried that Blue won’t want to be with him because Darla has new, fancy things for him. Nova insists that he is irreplaceable as Blue’s father. Charli says, ”WE” will fight like hell for you and Blue.”
Charli and Nova are by the backyard pool at Charli’s. Lawd!! This woman is living well. Charli says she called a lawyer to come represent RA. The lawyer is the best that money can buy. Nova is quiet for a moment, and Charlie asks if she’s ok. Nova asks Charli not to hate her. She says she kissed Remy and it was unexpected. Was it? Cause when you go off alone with a man to a romantic environment, isn’t that the least that can happen?
Nova says she is sorry. Charli is blown, pointing out how when she told Nova about the mill, she was unrelenting. Nova says she didn’t ask for this.
Charli: But you didn’t walk away either.
Nova, with no bass in her voice, says she will walk if Charli asks her too. Charli waits a beat and walks out.
At the plantation. Ol' girl is tagging the ground. Mica is in the mix, not really looking out.
They pay tribute to the ancestors by praying before the cabin where enslaved people lived. The candles are making me nervous. They’re leaving and letting the candles burn…. Oh, sh--! FIRE!!!!! The cabin is on fireI knew that was gonna happen. I knew it. WTF? Damn, kids!!
They run off and they’re somewhere looking scared as hell. At least they are alive. We’ll deal with the rest of it later. Just please, everyone keep your mouths shut. PLEASE.
RA is with new boo. I really gotta learn this chick’s name. I like her. He tells her how Darla is coming after Blue. RA says he isn’t trying to drag ol girl down and into his mess. He says he wants to “keep it simple” and “it’s complicated. Wait. 40 minutes ago, YOU asked this woman what ya’ll were and now you’re breaking up with her. WTF, man?
She gets out the car and goes. It’s the right thing to do. Man say he don’t want you, whatever the reason, ain’t no need in sticking around. Guess I don't need to know her name after all.
Nova’s at home when her agent reaches out to say that the New Yorker wants to publish her essay. She has two days to finish it. Hmmmm.
Mica is back at the scene of his crime. Why? Why are you there, boy? The house burned to the ground because: wood cabin.
Now he’s at home with his mother and Mr. Prosper in the living room. The doorbell rings and he looks nervous as hell. Please don’t be the police.
Damn! Damn! Damn! I ain’t want it to be him either.
What he got to say? Ol' flaky, bouncing between sisters ass.
He says he wanted things to work with Charli, but their thing has been over for a long time. Define “long”. More than a year? He says he doesn’t expect Charli to accept it.
Then why are you here, black man?
Charli says she doesn’t know him and she can’t trust anyone, not even her blood. She wants him not to hurt Nova, to not make her feel an ounce of what she feels in that moment. She says she and Nova are forever because: family.
Charli: “But you? You’ll always be fleeting,"
Damn. I feel bad. And I ain’t dating sisters.
Remy just walks off. Cause what do you say after that?
I feel so bad for Charli, standing there alone and betrayed. She looks so hurt. That deep, deep, deep in the center kind. Awwww, Bae.
Someone go hug that woman. And Mica’s simple teenage self too.
